Advice on Hair Loss Prevention, Treatments and Hair Restoration

The Causes of Hair Loss in Young Women

Hair loss in young women can be a very emotional and stressful experience. While balding can occur anywhere on the body, the most common place is the scalp and this is why young women look for a suitable female hair loss remedy. When you start to lose your hair, it is called alopecia and there are four main kinds of this condition – some of which can be treated and others for which there are no remedies.

Androgenetic Alopecia

Androgenetic alopecia is one of the causes when young women start losing their hair. It is also called female pattern baldness and although it is caused by a genetic trait that affects men, the pattern of balding is different for a female. The pattern of thinning is the same as with men, starting at the crown, but is usually not to the same degree. This condition is caused by an excessive amount of the male hormone androgen, and young women who experience shedding are more sensitive to the hormone. There are some remedies and female hair loss treatments that may help with this problem, but they have to be prescribed by a doctor.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is a condition in which the hair loss occurs in patches on different parts of the scalp. This condition can affect both men and women and there is no known cause or cure. It usually starts in childhood, which can be a very traumatic experience for a young woman. With this condition the body’s immune system starts to attack the follicles as foreign substances, which leads to females starting to lose hair at an early age. There is no known remedy for this condition.

Telogen Effluvium

Telogen Effluvium is a condition in which a female experiences a sudden loss of hair. The cause of this condition in young women is often emotional stress and does not result in losing their hair permanently. It could be the result of a death in the family, job loss or a divorce. Having a baby could also cause a young mother to lose her hair because of the imbalance of hormones. In this condition a larger than normal number of hair follicles become inactive and fall out. Once they do, the hair starts to regrow at a normal pace. The remedy for this condition is often just the time needed for the body’s hormones to get back in balance again.

Traumatic Alopecia

Traumatic alopecia in females is the result of the care you give your hair. A young woman who braids her hair too tightly or one that has a habit of twisting and turning her hair around her fingers could experience some shedding as a result. If this is the reason you are losing your hair, the remedy is to start wearing your hair loose and to try to curb your habit.
