Hair Loss Control
Steps to Take for Hair Loss Control
Most people think that hair loss control is a myth –
that they are either destined to lose hair or they aren’t. In recent years,
however, lots of new baldness information has been published as a result of
ongoing research, which means you can have more control than you ever
thought possible over how much hair you lose and how rapidly female and
male pattern baldness advances.
While the causes of losing hair, such as heredity and certain medical
conditions, may not be able to be changed much, you can inform yourself how
to slow down the balding process and control how rapidly the condition
advances.
For instance, most people use standard shampoos and conditioners for years
without realizing that the ingredients can hasten hair loss because of
damage to the scalp and follicles. If you want to slow down and control
baldness, steer clear of shampoos that strip the hair of oils or dry the
scalp. Especially try to avoid those with too much alcohol or detergents.
Sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) slows the growth cycle of hair. Isopropyl
alcohol strips the hair, drying it and causing breakage. Read the
information on the label to avoid these products.
Useful Information to Slow Down the Progression of Baldness
Follow these tips to help you control premature hair loss
which include simply taking good care of your scalp and hair. Here’s some
advice you should heed:
-
Perming/Coloring - Don’t perm or color your hair. Both
of these cause additional damage to hair and can seep into the follicles,
causing eventual baldness.
-
Brushing - Don’t brush too hard or too often. Rather
than fighting tangles from the scalp down, gently hold just that section
and work it out slowly with a wide-tooth comb.
- Hats - Wearing hats or caps on a daily basis
causes breakage and irritation of the scalp, so avoid wearing one, if possible.
-
Swimming - Always rinse your hair after swimming in
salt water or a pool with chlorine, both of which will dry and damage the
hair.
If you have reached the point where baldness or hair loss has
progressed enough to make you uncomfortable, consult a specialist and inform
yourself about controlling the condition or replacing your hair.
