Baldness Treatments – A Ray of Hope for the Bald
Baldness treatments are much sought after by balding
men and women since time immemorial. Loss of crowning glory or alopecia has
been a tough challenge for us since long back. However, surgical transplants
including mini and micro graft hair replacement offers a permanent solution.
Micro Graft Treatments - The Permanent Solution
In surgical transplantation, the bald or the low growth area
of your scalp is surgically replaced with that of dense growth. Post
surgery, your hair soon roots itself in the transplanted area and starts
growing. Micro graft uses follicles and scalp flap surgery uses scalp skin.
These are the two most popular replacement methods.
Micro vs. Mini
In grafting, the shafts are extracted from the dense growth area of your
scalp to replace your bald portion. A transplant of 1-2 shafts is called a
micro and one of 2-4 shafts is called a mini graft. Surgeons generally use
the micro grafting technique as a permanent hair
replacement system. Its small size needs low metabolism and there are
fair chances of hair survival compared to the other methods. This surgical
treatment is quite effective even for burnt scalps. You may see the desired
results after more than one session.
Scalp Flap Surgery
In scalp flap surgery, a slice of your scalp skin with dense growth is
transplanted to the bald portion of your head. This method of replacing hair
permanently has two types, scalp expansion and scalp reduction, which are
generally coupled during treatment.
Consult With Your Doctor
Permanent replacement techniques such as micro grafting have a come a long
way. The doctor decides upon hair
transplant surgery vis-ŕ-vis a patient’s age, gender, medical condition,
body’s acceptance to medicines, the family history of female or
male pattern baldness, the
availability of healthy hair area in the scalp, to name few. Though these
treatments are generally successful, the outcome of
medical hair restoration may
vary from person to person.
